Sew Saturday is an exciting annual campaign in association with Sew magazine that supports the craft industry’s independent retailers and high street bricks ‘n’ mortar stores. On Sew Saturday, which takes place this year on Saturday 6th October 2018, haberdashery and craft shops all across the UK and Northern Ireland will join the event by holding their own stitchy celebration and inviting customers – both old and new – into their stores.
Now in its fourth run, Sew Saturday 2018 promises to be bigger and better than ever! For this year’s event, we are providing signed-up stores with the tools they need to make their day a success. Our EXCLUSIVE unicorn mascot is going to go down a storm, with fabric pincushions for adults and felt versions for the kids… plus a magical block design for the quilters! Participating stores can also take advantage of our #SewSelfie printables, promotional material, and tips for contacting the local press.

Sew Saturday has grown from strength to strength, with more than 250 stores taking part across the entire campaign – many of which report their highest footfall and takings of the year. Signed-up stores will automatically be listed on the Sew Saturday map, which anybody can use to find their nearest participating store. With a reputation in the industry for bringing people together for a fun-filled day of stitchy activities, shopping and more, you won’t want to miss this chance to raise the profile of your store.
"Sewing is a pretty solitary sport, so having a social hub in the form of a local sewing shop can be a great refuge and the perfect place to meet like-minded people. Supporting bricks and mortar businesses helps ensure there will always be a place to stroke fabric, join in events and make new friends, then nab some thread when you run out! Who doesn't want a pretty haberdashery on their high street, instead of another betting shop?"

For the last three years Sew Saturday has brought much success to participating stores, who have reported their best day's trading often for the entire year with both a spike in sales and footfall. The campaign has also given them the opportunity to expand their customer base, giving them the chance to introduce their services to new hobbyists.
