2018
With Father’s Day just around the corner, here at Sew, we have devised our top five makes to gift your dad this week. As the special day is on the 17th June – you don’t have long to get stitching! Luckily, these creations can be whipped up in a day thanks to their simple, step-by-step tutorials, and our top five doesn’t just include sewing makes! We’ve scoured the Crafts Beautiful website and The Crafts Channel‘s YouTube for the most dadtastic gifts.
1. Nautical placemat
The perfect present for working dads, stay at home dads and drinks-a-lot-of-tea dads. It will be plain sailing with this placemat as it’s extremely versatile: it can also be used as a mousemat and coaster. Using the template, create an additional sea-sational picture!
2. Paper card
Alongside any Father’s Day gift should be an equally special card. The template teaches you how to introduce origami into card making by using a series of simple folds. Personalise the shirt shape with patterned ties, braces and accessories!
3. Shaker card
If you’re feeling slightly more daring, why not make a tashtastic card? Impress your dad with a present adorned in confetti and foam. If the moustache card isn’t enough – have a crack at the tie version following the same tutorial.
4. Glasses case
Sew knows there’s no better way to let someone know you care than with a personalised hand-made gift, and our stitched glasses case is thoughtful yet practical! Check out this treasured keepsake on our website.
5. Leather coasters
Make a set of four stylish coasters to add a distinctive touch to the usual bottle of Scotch on Father’s Day. This present is super easy to make following this The Crafts Channel tutorial, and it also doubles as a present for mum because it stops dad leaving dark drink rings on the furniture!
