You asked, we listened! Sew recently did a survey to see what hobbies crafters have besides stitching, and an overwhelming majority of you love to knit. So, we’ve put together a list of our top knitting and sewing Halloween makes which are guaranteed to keep you busy until the 31st. Which one will you sink your fangs into first?
BOO-tees
It's believed that the Halloween ritual of carving pumpkins originated from a Celtic tradition which marked the beginning of winter. With that in mind, keep your little one warm and cosy this October with these sweet shoes!
Ghoulish characters
What could be better than crafting a frightening witch, Frankenstein's monster and mischievous ghost for Halloween? Remember to leave long tails at the beginning and end for sewing up, and to embroider French knots for eyes if you're making the toys for tiny tots.
Trick or treat
This pumpkin bag is a real treat for newbie sewers as it's comprised of four identical sections and each point converges at the base to create a neat carry-all without any pesky, bulging seams. Psst... it's also the perfect size to hide sweets!
Hocus pocus
Using seasonal colours and cotton fabric, rustle up a pumpkin wand to match your novelty bag. We know a few little ones that will love this!
Utterly thrilling
We're big believers in a 'wreath for all seasons', so how's this for a spine-chilling showstopper? There's plenty of elements to keep you occupied with this spooktacular make, including a scary witch, bandaged mummy and creepy crawlies.
Monster mash
Sew a fantastic pumpkin hat for your little monster! With Halloween celebrations being filled with ghosts and ghouls, we're sure the wearer will have lots of fun practising their scary faces while sporting this adorable cap!
Stash slasher
These sweet pumpkin pincushions look good enough to eat! They can be whipped up in no time using fabric scraps, and each is made up of eight lozenge-shaped segments to create the ghoulish fruit.
