Stitch wall hangings

1. Download and print the cross stitch chart. Place aida fabric in a small embroidery hoop, making sure it is firmly in place. Start with the smallest duck. Thread a needle with two strands of orange embroidery thread. Following the chart, start at the duck’s beak using cross stitch. One square equals one cross stitch.

2. Work along the duck’s body, continuing with the neck followed by the breast, along the tummy and down to the feet, changing thread colour accordingly. Then, work along the lower wing followed by the upper wing.

3. Once the bird is complete, make sure that the material is pulled tight within the hoop. Cut the leftover fabric around the edge leaving 1.5cm. Position double-sided tape on the inside of the hoop and fold the excess fabric over, securing it neatly behind the work.

4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 for the next two ducks, using a medium and large embroidery hoop accordingly. Once finished, fasten standard picture hooks to the top of each hoop, ready to mount on a wall.
