Make a bag dispenser

    1. From striped fabric, cut a 22cm x 32cm rectangle for the middle panel. For the top and bottom ones, cut two 12cm x 32cm rectangles from printed cotton. From another print, cut a 8cm x 29cm strip for the hanging loop.
    2. To make the loop, fold the fabric lengthways, right sides together, and stitch down the long edge using a 1cm seam allowance. Turn out and press, then put to one side.
    3. Take the fabric panels and sew the top and bottom ones to the middle section, right sides together. Stitch coordinating ric rac to cover the seam lines, then hem the short edges.
    4. Measure 15cm of elastic and pull it to the same width as the fabric. Pin and tack in place 3cm down from the edge of the top panel then stitch it down, pulling the elastic flat as you go to create gathering. Repeat for the bottom panel.
    5. Fold the hanging loop in half and sew it to the top panel. Fold the entire piece in half, right sides together, and stitch down the long edge. Turn out and press.

Create a hand towel

    1. Cut a piece of looped cotton towelling fabric measuring 30cm square. Go to www.sewmag.co.uk and download the towel hanger template to cut two shapes from printed cotton. Pin them right sides together, then stitch along the outside edges using a 1cm seam allowance, leaving the long edge open. Turn out and press with an iron, pushing out all of the corners.
    2. Turn in a 1cm seam allowance on the open end, then press with an iron. Gather the towelling fabric until it’s the same width as the opening, then pin them together. Topstitch along the edge. Turn down the tab and sew in place, creating a loop to feed white cord through for hanging.
