About this pattern

It’s fair to say that little ones are known to be messy at meal times, making bibs and burp cloths necessities. So, whether you’re stitching in preparation for the arrival of your own bundle of joy or looking for a gift for your nearest and dearest, these items are always useful.

Essentials

  • Fabric: cotton, printed; brushed cotton, 50cm of each
  • Bias binding: cotton, 13mm wide
  • Velcro, sew on, 1cm square

    Stitch a bib

    1. Cut out a bib and pocket from printed cotton using the templates on page 84, with the right side of the fabric facing up. From brushed cotton cut another bib, this time with the right side of the fabric facing down. Ensure the notches are snipped and mark the position of the velcro.

    2. Pin the pieces together with wrong sides facing. Cut two 10cm pieces of binding, fold them in half lengthways and sew along the long edge of each to create ties. Pin these centrally to the bottom of the brushed cotton piece, laying them side by side rather than on top of each other to prevent
