About this pattern

These vibrant blocks are a great way to use up leftover fabrics and make gorgeous gifts for expectant mums and younger children. They will add an instant splash of colour to bedrooms and play areas and are easily customised with a selection of die-cut shapes. Why not carry the motifs onto cushions, curtains and other soft furnishings for a coordinated finish?

    Make the Blocks

    1. Cut four 15cm squares from patterned fabric and two from plain. Lay them out in a ‘T’ shape so that you have a strip of four squares with one shape either side of the second square.

    2. Snip a 5mm x 5mm piece from each corner of the two squares that form the arms of the ‘T’ then sew the four whole squares together with right sides together to make a line.

    3. Sew the two cornered squares onto the line of four squares to secure them in place, then repeat steps 1-3 to make two more stitched ‘T’ shapes.
