Seed stitch

One of a family of detached stitches, seed stitch is useful for covering an area of a motif with pattern and texture

Seed stitch

Bring the needle up through the fabric and down again a short distance away, in the direction you wish the stitch to lie. Seed stitches look best if they are kept quite short.

Bring the needle up through the fabric again, a short distance from the first stitch, and make a second stitch facing a different way. Repeat this, making stitches evenly spaced and facing in different directions.
