About this pattern

Make our mini hedgehog sewing pattern.

The crowning glory of this cuddly hedgehog by Cheryl Owen is its soft and tactile shaggy spines. They are easy to make from bias strips of fabric – we’ve incorporated Liberty prints in different colours, but it’s also a fantastic project for using up a selection of scraps from your stash.

Essentials

  • Cotton fabrics: printed turquoise, 25cm x 1.12m; plain red, 7cm square; five co-ordinating printed cottons, 25cm x 40cm
  • Black felt, 7cm square
  • Fabric glue
  • Toy stuffing
  • Embroidery needle

    Top sewing tip

To find the true bias, fold fabric diagonally at a 45° angle to the selvedge and grain. Press the fold then open the fabric out flat. Draw the strips parallel with the pressed line.
